coloring/aging horn

I have recently bought some of Jim Kibler's iron nitrate to use on a rifle. I have never used this stuff and I did get some help from a friend as to how to use it on a wood stock. I am wondering if it can be used on a horn? I have a horn that has some white/tan area's that I would like to darken/age. I would assume it would be used the same way? Anyone with experience along this trail? Thanks for any help

I use my iron of nitate stain on horn all the time.Apply and heat just like wood.

 Just make sure the horn is clean, no oil, no finger prints. I find it best to wipe them down with alcohol then heat the horn, get it pretty hot, try it on a scrap, before applying. It can be applied more than once. Wash it off with warm water to see what you have between coats.

Boiling with onion skins works too.
