I'll just stick to what I actually have owned instead of what I have built.
This is a ca. 1815-ish English 18 bore SXS flint gun by Bilby Hyde & Co. Killed lots of pheasants with it and even more skeets. Unfortunately, I sold it last year.

Then there's always this big dog. 72" barrel ,11 bore Hudson Valley gun with a dog lock. I still own this one. Although, somebody else can if they want.

Ooops! Forgot this one. Had it many years and sold it 4 or 5 years ago. Two barrel set. One a 37" barrel with .015 jug and the other 30" with .05 jug, both in 12 bore. Hooked breech Sterling side plate and thumb piece. I literal shot 1,000 or rounds out of this gun at Friendship on the skeet range, the frizzen was incredibly worn but still sparked great. It was a helluva good gun. 1 oz loads worked great in the short barrel for skeet.

Here's mine .62, 42 inch barrel, plain maple stock. It's taken everything from squirrel to deer.

I'm shooting one of Salvo's old guns. Barrel is a .65 cal x 48" swamped full octagon wrought iron smoothbore, plain maple stock & hand forged iron fittings. It's one he totally made, lock, stock & barrel, back in 1969. It's a nice old gun and I'm proud to shoot it.

Would you explain the different effect the .015 and .05 have on patterns or the amount of difference in this jug choke.

I might have said .005.....off one decimal point.

Anyway, the more relief in the jug the tighter the shot pattern.

Thank you,Taylor. I shoot 80 gr. of 2F Goex, .025 cotton patch, .515RB, and WWW fluid topped with a little Neetsfoot oil for "lube". This is my plinking, gongshoot lube. For hunting, straight Neetsfoot oil. The water based lube is sloppy wet, the oil for hunting, I wring it out between my fingers. Bore is .540, a "tight" 28 gauge.

I wanted a .50cal x 50" smoothrifle by the time I was 50. Didn't happen because $$$, so I modified the plan and got this about a decade late. Brian Turner did this with cherry, and a 46" x .50cal OTR Longhammock, Peter Berry-ish. Good with RB to 50yds, and with shot on small furries and sitting grouse--where it shines. Handles and fits better than most of my remaining stable of flinters. Love shooting it, need to get it out more.

I have a .62 smoothbore made by Brian Turner that I am partial to.

Do you (or anyone else reading this) know much about him and his guns?

I've not read much if anything about him and his guns.

I could be an probably am wrong but I think Brian Turner works/worked at TVM for Matt Avance when they were in Corinth Miss. I have no idea if he made the move to Natchez with that company.

This is a Pedersoli 12ga dbl that I owned for several years. It was more fun than a barrel of monkeys but I eventually sold it. Superbly fitted and finished.

This is now my only smoothbore. It's as plain as your next door neighbor's ugly daughter but that's the way I ordered it. I wanted a good gun for ball with the possibility of good shot patterns. I shoot 90% plus with ball. While more robust than my partner's identical piece, it still weighs just over 7 lbs. The lock is Chambers and it will set your shirt on fire.

Update regarding Brian Turner. At Friendship today, the guys from Tennessee Valley Manufacturing told me that Brian is again making guns with/for them.

I was also told that Jack Garner is owner again. Mr Garner was in the booth as I was told this.
