Been turning screws for five marman underhammer locks . These locks are a training exersize to learn some basic machining, before I start on the lockkits). Screw size 4#-40. Same size I plan to use building the Dolep and Wogden flinlock kits. I've tried cutting slots with a jewerls saw. Not happy with the results. Brownell has screwslot files. What size file would you recommend?
Best regards

Rolf,
I have 6 small saw frames that use modified blades. These are all 64 teeth every 25MM. I modify them for different work and use one
with NO set in the teeth for small, shallow screw slots in my lock screws.I think the jewelers saw blades are too flimsy for this work and
don't have one in my collection of small tools.I sometimes use a VERY small knife shaped file after slotting with the narrow saw.
The the set in the saw teeth is removed by using a diamond loaded flat file to get what I want in a screw slot. I have always used this method and have found the screw slot files to be VERY fragile and have none of them either.
