Horn With Pewter Tip

  I thought this horn unique because of the neck treatment and the Pewter tip. The example I used is shown in Sibley's Building The Southern Banded Powder Horn in the "Gadler-Chadwick Collection".
 The horn itself is about 11" around the outside curve. The Walnut Butt is Hollowed out about 3/4s its length, it is held in place by 8 pins. The tip is pewter, it was poured, attached to the horn with 3 pins and shaped. Color is AF and Brown shoe polish.
 I must have taken 20 Pix just to get these two that are not the best. It will be on the table at Lexington.

Very neat.  I love how you tapered the horn spout into the pewter tip.  It mimics the seamless transition of the base plug to the horn. Very well done.

We seem to be enamored by very fancy horns today. If you really study the originals you find a majority of simple, plain, utilitarian horns. These were tools. I find this one very fitting. Might go well with Eric's new bag.
