1776 British Rifle Question

I'd like to build a 1776 British Rifle at some point.  I've got everything except the barrel dimensions.  With that, I can start culling through what's available and find something close or have one made.  So, does anyone have the barrel dimensions?   A set of plans would be nice, but I'm not pressing my luck!  ;)  Thanks!

The Rifle Shoppe makes parts for that rifle.  Buy a copy of DeWitt Bailey's "British Military Flintlock Rifles".

I have a pristine copy of the British 1776 Rifle print (509) from the Rifle Shoppe.  It is a full size drawing with many dimensions and details.  They want $14.95 plus shipping for a copy, if you can get ahold of them. Good luck with that.  I will sell mine for $12.00 and I will pay the shipping.  PM me if interested.

I have built a bunch of those over the years. They are sort of a pain in the buttocks, but nice after they are built. This one is all TRS except for the stock which I made from a blank. In fact I did all of them from a blank, solves alot of otherwise built in problems.

Thanks for those, Mike.  That's a sharp looking rifle.  "The devil is in the details,"  I guess I'll find out when I start this one in the future.

"Pattern dates for British ordnance small arms 1718 - 1783" by DeWitt Bailey.  This book has a couple of sections on the 1776 infantry rifle going into characteristics and detail on barrel dimensions, lock, stock and brass furniture.  Several pictures as well.   Great book.  I bought it purposely when I wanted to build the 1776 infantry rifle.

I have a bench copy of the Pattern 1776 rifle made by Ernie Cowan. He used an original for his pattern gun and made all parts, not using Rifle Shoppe cast parts. If needed, I could supply specific measurements and photos.
