Hi, all. I have a .45 Colerain barrel, 44" b weight on a Lancaster style rifle. The rear sight is appx 8" from the breech. The barrel width at the narrowest point of the sight is .875. The dovetail depth reads at .075, and that includes a slight raising of the dovetail, I am unable to measure that slight amount. If I am doing the math correctly and using .016 for the radius rifling, I come out with appx .124 of barrel wall thickness. My research thus far tells me that .100 is enough wall thickness, I would just like to confirm that with those in the know. Thank you in advance.
I probably should have done this before hand, but just fired off an email to Colerain as well. I'll let you know what they say. Thanks.
