Barrel Maker Identification?
« on: August 11, 2016, 08:51:52 AM »
I bought a barrel that has been unused for something over 10 years.  Can't find any marks on it except the caliber and twist are stamped on the face of the muzzle.  Square bottom rifling 8 grooves.  Barrel is .50cal 66 in twist.  I am hoping the unusual stamping of caliber and twist on the face of the muzzle is typical of a specific builder?

Are the cutts wider than the lands?

Douglas used to stamp the cal. and the twist on the face of the muzzle.

The lands are twice the width of the grooves and I forgot to mention the  barrel is swamped.

IIRC Douglas had narrow cuts and wide lands and I think a 1-66 twist. I don't know about a swamped profile though.
