What muzzleloader is your favorite.

My old 3rd model Pat 1853 South Australian marked rifled musket. Been in the family since before I was born, and the first muzzle loader I ever shot, still shoots fine and hangs over the mantle.

Chambers New England Fowling gun. 10 bore , Deer, bear, turkey, geese, ducks . My most used gun.
And, it's nice looking too

40 caliber Tennessee rifle I built about 20 years ago. Had a Getz 7/8 x 42 inch barrel and would stick em in one hole all day long. Large Siler flint that was the most reliable flintlock I ever had. Sold it to a friend of mine and wish I never sold it.

My .50 Lancaster. Finished some five or six years ago. My first from a Chambers kit.

She shoots dead on at 85 yards, noticeable spread at 150.

My Don Bruton built southern iron mounted rifle. Its my deer gun an keeps my freezer full. Straight shooter hard hitter. Its in my hands 2 an a half months out of a yr so you could say its a faithful companion that has yet to let me down. Its just a plain gun with no carving an the only engraving is the makers initials on the top barrel flat an the rifles name in the sideplate. A .62 cal I call "Samson"

It's way too ugly to ever sell, but works great in the woods. It taught me lots, and I have more to learn.

The one I am shooting. Right now it's my .40 with the 44" GM swamped barrel, cherry stock. Points where I look and hits where I aim. (When I hold right.) Dropped my venison in it's tracks at 75 yards last fall. Not very pretty but she is mine.

54 caliber, gets barrel 44 inch swamped barrel. Rifle is a copy of one owed by Danial Boone. Check of a deer getter.

The one I shoot most is my .45 x 7/8" x 36" GMB Lancaster "plain Jane" full stock - cap lock / flintlock (it can be converted) rifle. I shoot it mostly with the John Bailes flintlock. Really like this rifle so much that I'll probably someday just find a home on another Lancaster stock for the cap lock since I have another .45 GMB setting in my workshop.

My current hunting rifle, it's taken a lot of game in the last 20 years and when it didn't, it wasn't the rifles fault. 32" John Getz barrel, Chambers round face English lock, half stock along English lines,part octagon part round, swings like a shotgun,58 cal. This will be the one until I finish my Jim Carpenter 62 half stock flinter and we will re-evaluate.

My favorite rifle is my current one. It's my deer rifle and my shootin' match rifle. 38" Rice swamped "B" weight barrel in .50 caliber, Chambers Golden Age lock, Davis DST, built by me.

My 10 bore fowler. 48" barrel beautifully figured cherrywood stock and crisp carving with silver wire inlay. Made for me by Allan Sandy years ago. New England style with a bit of early French flavor and Allan's own touches. And it is light weight and balances and carries sweetly.

31 1/2" GRRW .69 x 1 1/8" Oct.

"Billy Bob", a Hawken half stock with Roller lock and triggers and Large tapered .54 barrel. I've never named a gun before, but with the major parts coming from a William and a Robert, I couldn't escape it. Lock and breech plug case colored with everything else rust blued and engraved. Lock is engraved "R. Roller Warranted". Stock is way too red. It is the only rifle I've ever made myself and is chock full of mistakes, but it taught me a lot about authentic looking Hawken rifles. It's really hard to make one correctly. Some day I'll strip it and restain.

It's been my experience that terms like politically correct, polite, or subtle do not apply to a .69 caliber rifle. While I don't know her personally, by reputation the name fits!

LOL - that was a shot at the 200yard gong. This is the sighting picture before the recoil started. See where the powder smoke is?

140gr. GOEX 2F + .030|" denim patched 482gr. ball. The ramrod has moved out the pipes about 1/2" from the recoil - it is snug in the pipes.
