Is L. Adkins on the barrel ?  I have numerous breech plugs made by a Luther Adkins from Indiana and he engraved his name on the bottom side of the breech plug tang. I did not know that he made barrels. Steve

I also have a couple of Luther Adkins breech plugs.  I bought them in the mid-70's but have never used them as all the barrels I have bought since were breeched.  They are still in the cotton draw string bag with a shipping tag sewn in one end.  His products sheet is included and only lists breech plugs.  His contact information at the time is listed below.

That is exactly what I have. The breech plug is signed but nothing on the barrel. Wonder if it's another unsigned Douglas barrel? Thanks for the input. It looks like a very well made barrel. Thanks again Greg an Steven much appreciated.

If it's a Douglas there is a real good chance that the caliber, and or the twist rate will be stamped on the muzzle. This only helps if the barrel hasn't been shortened per Douglas's instructions of course.

I have a Douglas .50 cal bought back in the 70's.  No marks at all 7 groove 1x48 twist.  If yours is like mine probable sold by Golden Age arms out of Columbus, Oh.

There are no marks on the barrel. But it does have seven groves (rifling) in the barrel. My son's girlfriend will end up with a nice little rifle when I'm done. Thanks for all the help everyone.
