Last year at the CLA show I picked up one of Dan Fruth's barrels, thinking it would make a nice fowler. I had Dave Keck inlet the barrel into a piece of English walnut, and finally got around to building... The barrel is a 46" .20ga. Very slender and graceful, resulting in a nicely balanced, easy pointing, and light weight piece. I was very pleased with Dan's barrel. The lock is a Chambers. The side plate is the one I posted earlier, which I cast from a pattern I made. The thumb piece I also cast from another one I had in the shop. The designs on the butt are something I came up with, depicting a Peacock, and Humming bird. The stock was treated with Constantine's to fill the grain, then several coats of Permalyn sealer was applied. The stock was then rubbed back with Paraffin oil and rotten stone.
Sorry for the washed out photos..., I had some issues with my usual camera and took these with an iPad.
If anyone has any questions, I'd be happy to answer them. Thanks for looking!
