Looking for someone to install vent liner.

I have a Lyman GPR flintlock and flash in the pans are driving me nuts. I bought the Jim Chambers White Lightning vent liner. I've moved into a small apartment and have no shop to do work like this anymore.

Would someone be interested in installing this for me. Whatever price is fair is good with me.

Just a thought, but have you considered opening up the original vent hole just a tiny bit?   Might make all the difference....

Also, are you plugging the vent with a toothpick before pouring powder down the barrel?  A fouled vent won't fire in any case.

I tried all that. No joy. This vent liner is my last hope.

Is the breach clean ?  Those rifles have a much smaller chamber at the breach [ I believe ]   requires a smaller than bore sized jag to clean.

Yes, from what I can see it's clean. The gun is supposed to only have 25-30 shots on it. The previous owner gave up on getting to fire.

I use Tom Fuller flints and it throws really good sparks. The pan powder always goes off. It's just not getting in the tube. I have a good feeling the White Lightning will solve all the problems. It looks like a really good design and moves the main charge as close as possibly to the pan powder.

I had the occasion to inbstall a new liner in a Lyman GPR.  the original was almost obscured by the pan - right at the bottom and either at the front or rear of the pan (can't remember which.  I plunged a mill into the barrel to give the vent a better location, and then finished up with the correct tap drill for a 5/16" x 32 Chambers White Lightning liner.

That seems to be a common problem with GPR's. However, it appears to be for the RH version only. Mine is LH and Lyman did a better job of vent liner placement. Mine is centered and the right height.

That didn't make it work any better, so the White Lightning seems to be the best cure. I sure hope it is.
