Next Project & Happy Thanksgiving - Finished rifle with Pictures
« on: November 24, 2016, 06:49:14 PM »
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I have been very blessed since I retired 3 years ago from the engineering field that I worked in for 45 years. I have been blessed with health and a loving family.  I have been blessed with rifle orders since I went full time into gun building, I know it's a dirty job but hey somebody got to do it.  ;D

I love getting up in the morning and coming down to my shop. I am usually here by 8AM and before I know it 5:30PM is here and it's time to call it a day. It has truely been a blessed 3 years.

Here is my next project. It is going to be a little southern mountain rifle with a 42" "A" weight Colerain barrel in 32 cal. She should be a nice slender gal.

Here are a few update photo's of my little 32 SMR project. I have the butt stock shaped up and all the parts fit now on to the forearm.

Here is the finished rifle guys. I hope everyone enjoys the pic's and I wish everyone a very Blessed Christmas.

Knowing you, and me being around your work for some time, I have no doubt that that rifle will turn out just as perfect as can be made knowing your superb attention to every little detail.

Great to have a short commute to work one can love.

Wondering how old the .32 Colerain is because AFIK they've not offered that caliber since I've been at it.  Not in print anyways, I never called 'em up.

Of course companies don't always keep their webformation updated.  Cheers!

Wade, I probably have had the barrel since the mid 90's. I initially bought it to make a rifle for my oldest grandson but he grew to be a big young man before I had the time to build the rifle. So I have just had it around the shop and finally got an order for a southern squirrel rifle in a 32. I did notice that it is stamped "A" weight on the barrel but now matches their dimensions for a "B" weight barrels. It still like new so it was a good choice for this rifle.

Tim this is going to be a pretty simple little rifle. Spear point 2 screw tang, I forged the butt plate and thimbles and it will have a 2 piece steel nose cap, no cap box, simple forestock and butt stock mouldings and a silver cheek inlay. Double set triggers and a cast guard. I am basing the stock on the same Charlie Bean rifle that I based your rifle on though so it should be a good handeling rifle.

Ain't the first time  ;D

No matter how plain I would still like to see the progress, if you don't mind.
