I was thinking about buying a Mowhawk belt axe from The R.E. Davis Company and was looking for input.

is there a wedge in the top of the handle of the Mohawk axe? trying to decide between that or the Meigs axe.

I don't know about the Mohawk, but I've carried a Meigs for 20 years and it's a great, versatile little axe.

I have the "Mohawk" and carry it everywhere when in the woods, since it's so compact. I stitched a sheath to the side of my haversack. A very handy little axe, with decent steel. It holds a good edge.
