Number of ramrod pipes?
« on: March 08, 2017, 01:45:42 AM »
I am putting together a rifle with 44 inch barrel.   I do not know if there are general rules but are two forward and the ramrod hole entrance one be adequate? I do not want it to look out of balance. It is a Lehigh style stock.

Three including the entry pipe, on a Lehigh Valley rifle.

I'm currently building a Lehigh and with all the study I've done, most all Lehigh have 2 pipes and an entry.  Now maybe there might have been a few out there with longer barrels and more pipes, but haven't seen any pics.

I think a rifle might look a mite weird with more than 3, including the entry pipe.
48" bl. n this one. It does have 4 barrel wedges though.

I've built several Lehighs with 48" barrels, and they all have 3 pipes total.  On the KRA cd of Lehighs, they all have 3.
Hope this helps.

Thanks to all for their input. I believe I will salvage my pipes from a rifle I put together way back when I was a mid teenager. That will be two forward and one rear.
