schrimshawed horn marked DH
« on: March 30, 2017, 10:15:24 PM »
I found (at local gun store in California) several very nicely scrimshawed powder horns.  These are above average and done by an expert horner and artist, but, I can't find any way to identify the maker.  The makers mark is DH  can anyone help identify this maker?  Thanks  steg49

A couple of photos would go a long way in identifying the maker.

Thanks,
Rick

Did a little more investigating and found that the horns I was looking at were made by Ken Falletti "dirty hand".  They are very nice, I did take some pictures I will try to get them up sometime today.  steg49

Some of Ken's work. Just in case people don't know him.

I will give the new posting of pic a try.  These horns are still at the gun shop as they are a little out of my price range ($175 to $375)

If you have the pictures saved on your computer, It's just like posting to fb or any other social media account. Easy! If I can do it, anyone can.

I remember when he did the horn with the colored birds. Wonderful contemporary work.

The detail on the scrimshaw is unbelievable, I have more pic but I have used up enough space.  If some has an interest in these I can send them photos and could act as a go between.  They are out of my price range.  Thanks for your help esp. on posting photos.  steg49

Fine scrim work.  Interesting mix of historic and modern themes.

Nice work. What part of California is this gun shop located?

The gun shop is in Grass Valley CA  Nothern part of the State.  I haven't been in the shop in the last week but I would think they would be a slow sale in this area.  I guess it is OK to give the name of the shop it is Mustang gun shop. steg49
