David Price Swivel Breech Rifle Kit Build - final pictures
« on: April 21, 2017, 09:02:23 PM »
The swivel Breech rifle I built from David Price’s kit is essentially finished.

I still have some polishing and tweaking to do, but it is good enough to take it to the Fort Frederick 18th Century Market Fair next week to show my friends.

I want to thank David for all the work he does getting the kits ready, and for the advice and help he gave me.

Also, a big thank you to David for providing me with such a fantastic piece of wood.

I have the footage for the last two videos in the series ready to edit, so, hopefully before I leave for Fort Fred, I’ll get them up.

What did the assembled weight come to? Nice looking rifle from where I sit.

firelock,

Nice job.  I told you there was nothing to it.

Smylee grouch,
The finished rifle with the 32 inch barrels weighs eight and a half lbs.   If it has the 28 inch barrels it finishes out at just about eight lbs.

Nice job. My question would be: can the sites be worked down or replaced ? They look out of proportion.

  Thanks, Tim C.

Firelock,
Nice job, it looks nice and clean.

Thank you for doing all the videos as well, I watch and enjoy the long rifle ones as well as the percussion revolver ones.

You did well, Mike- congratulations.  Like the colour, too, along with that fiery grained maple- special!

Great job Mike. Oh the trials and tribulations of building a Swivel Breech! Don't you just love it! My marathon Swivel Breech project has humbled me many times, and I've still got a ways to go! Congratulations on a finished rifle, and a darn nice looking one at that!  I enjoyed the videos. Thanks for sharing.

Here are the last two videos in the swivel breech build series. The first one covers finishing the wood, and the last one deals with metal finish and final assembly.
