Looking for ramrods
« on: April 27, 2017, 04:24:41 AM »
I just used my last 7/16" ramrod blank and unfortunately it has a good bend in it.  I know somewhere on this forum I saw a reference to someone who sells good ramrods.  I don't want to get anymore of the crappy ones from TOW.  Does anyone have a source where I can get at least half a dozen?

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

Dan Putz is also an excellent choice! He bought out Steve Bailey and his contact info is here:

After many, many years of shooting yew self-bows w/ footed cedar shaft arrows I made myself (flint knapped heads too!) I can ensure you that I know all about grain runout. On some ramrod blanks received from Dan ... I gave up looking for the grain! Amazing quality!
All of my muzzleloaders will shoot into one ragged hole ALL DAY LONG ... it's just the 2nd or 3rd & other shots that tend to open up my groups ... !
