What are the differences in the Rice barrel with square rifling and the Colerain 42" 58 C weight barrels? The measurements are the same diameter in the same places.

I think the Rice has 7 cuts and colerain has 6, the twist rate I think is different, Rice has square cuts like you said and colerain I think has round groove.

Are the tangs different? The tang in the Isaac Haines profile Colerain barrel I have is not as flared as the tang on my Rice 42" golden age barrel

I called Jason at Rice barrels and they don't have a C weight in stock, he does have a 42" in a Virginia pattern, which is slightly larger then the C (in between C and D weight) it will be a tight but I think it will fit. What do y'all think or should I get a Colerain?

I'd get a barrel that fits the inlet.  For me it's almost harder to inlet a barrel that almost fits than to make the inlet from scratch. It wants to tip not go straight down.

Only problem using a Colerain is I would either have to fill the tang inlet and re inlet it or fit the breech plug I have now to the barrel, if the tang flare isn't as pronounced as the tang on the Rice barrel

All the Colerains bbl/tangs I have are plenty fat to peen a little thinner and wider.  File to shape to fit your inlet.

Show the tang who is boss.  :P

Spoke with Jason again, he has a 54 in the c weight but I'm undecided if I want to go with a 54 since I have two other 58's

.54 is a great caliber.  Plenty of whomp and easier to handle recoil with a flattish trajectory than .58. Though I love my .58 too!
