Dennis - those are a really nice pair of southwest Virginia guns.

On the bottom rifle the recurve on the front of the bow to me looks like a good example of a transition between the traditional rifle guard shapes and the more stylized mountain rifle guards.

Its been a long time and both have been sold. I think one of them was from a maker just outside of Abingdon VA maybe White? I forget. I totally forget what the second one was. I was selling them a lady that had lost her husband to cancer and wanted to sell his collection.

At least one of them was John Whitesides rifle with a curved cheekpiece as I recall
