Finished 36 cal flinter
« on: May 04, 2017, 01:51:59 AM »
I had shown this as part of a thread on barrel finishing method, but thought I'd show this as an actual rifle project.
This was my practice gun before trying to build a more expensive project.  Lots of experiments on this but turned out purty decent.  Really shoots well.

As my dear old Dad used to say  "do in a pinch"  I guess.
It looks better in the photos than for real.

As for the barrel finish, just look farther down the list of this forum and you'll see our discussion.
Thanks

Large Siler.
The Cherry stock came from a tree my pal cut down and dried.

I had a friend that was a great builder, The Colonel Phil Cravener.  Especially great at carving and even more so at engraving.
He used to widen his rifles by adding an eight inch on each side at the lock.
I tried it here just to see if I could do it.
I like the look, but realize now that I do not really think it is needed.
Gee I wish I was better at tang carving.
