My observation on Engraving of Germanic Flintlocks is that the Barrel Engraving, the lock engraving and the mounts may have have been done by different hands. Perhaps this suggests a large shop with specialization or outsourcing of parts. In the case of guns made with refurbished Ottoman barrels, the barrel decoration usually retains the Islamic silver work wile the replaced tang has Germanic engraving.
