A Tenn. butt plate by Beales

If you are building a Tenn. rifle, take a look at the butt plate on this rifle. I always liked the look. Of course you would have to be careful, "you might poke your eye out !" LP

;D... I've always liked that butt-plate....The Lawings used it also.....Am I wrong, or was it only seen on later percussion rifles...??? ???...would like to find someone willing to build this EXACT style, using THIS butt-plate, over-the-comb tang, same trigger-guard, and stripe stock.... !!!... not asking too much is it...?? ....HaHa...... ...Oh yeah .....same patchbox, too .... !!!

I'd call that a "hang nail" toe line!

Very "sharp" rifle there Louie! ;D

I like Rogers finial modification on the traditional banana PB.

I thought the bayonet went on the front end.   ;)

Yes, that butt plate is really nice. There are some very nice Tennessee rifles in this thread too.

Cades, I made the rifle you posted. Those deep curve butts are a pain to get right, that one took two tries before I was happy with it. I'm plenty willing to make another.

Sequatchie's rifle has a hinged toe plate with cavities for a ball puller, jag, and scraper.  I have been planning to make a hinged toe plate for a long time. It took a couple versions to get one that I was happy with.   I seen one on a Bean rifle years back, and it put the thought of making one in my mind.  I also made a vent pick that screws into the stock between the toe plate and the rear final of the trigger guard.  The profile of the curve of the butt plate on my rifle came from a William Douglas rifle.  It is similar to the Lawing butts I have seen.  I also had to make the butt plate twice to get the look and feel that Sequatchie and I were looking for.
