One of the next projects coming up. In making this action the only commercial parts utilized were the frizzens, frizzen springs, and cock. All other parts were handmade. Barrels are forged and octagon rough hammered in they just need dressed and corners crisped up and finished.

That's fantastic.  The amount of work and skill required almost uncomprehendable, especially the barrels.  Who helped you forge the barrels?  I always wanted to forge some barrels but never could get any body to help me with it.  It is a two or three man job.

Jerry,
My father would come up and help me for the day. We can usually have a 44" tube welded up and hammered octagon in about 10-11 hrs. My kids are big enough now that they run the mandrels for me and strike where needed. My daughter is 12 and my son is 11 and yes they are off and running with their own rifles and like working in the shop.
