Looks like RE David Late Ketland to me. They are a decent lock...have used them on rifles and pistols...but never a Hawken. IMO, they appear a little small for a Hawken lock.

Dennis, that looks a lot like a Davis late Ketland which I have on my last build. I like the locks speed and some other features but flint life is shorter than most of the other locks I own.

Yes I am familiar with the Davis Ketland and have used one or two but these are said to be by the Hawken shop which I am not familiar with.

Dennis,
I bought one one time and it was so bad I had to send it back for a refund.
Talked to the Hawken shop later and they claimed to have worked out all of the bugs.
You could try one out, they'll take it back if it's bad.

Thanks, will pass on it, just wondered, Chambers late Ketlands are what I use and very pleased but once in a while I would like to have a different looking lock on my SMR.

I just bought one of these from the Hawken shop a few weeks ago. I also bought one about 3 years ago. The first one I bought was a good sparker, fast, and dependable. The most recent one was very well assembled, and required almost no tuning at all. I only polished a couple places and filed off a few mold lines. I just took the rifle I put the lock on for it's first range trial. The lock was very fast, and fired perfectly for about 20 tries. I then had to sharpen the flint. It was extremely hot and humid, so I think that was good performance. I also had too small a flint for the lock, so it may have dulled faster than normal.
