I did not see a round face Germanic on chambers web site.  Is it a new lock.  I like it better that the other round face locks they have.

Ed, you are rally ripping them out these days!  Tell us the truth,  you have three highly skilled apprentices in the shop, don't you?   :P

Beautiful job with the carving Ed, nice looking gun overall, handsomely delightful!

Nice job!  I keep thinking of Isaac Berlin when I look at the carving behind the cheek piece; you just keep expanding your skill set.

Thanks, all!

Mark, I'll most likely have the rifle at the CLA show, please stop by and say "hello".

AsMs, your correct, this lock is not shown on Chambers web site.

It is a rather plain stock, as Taylor pointed out.  While I wasn't sure of the specific design when I was thinking about this build, I knew I wanted to do something baroque in style, and probably rather large behind the cheek.  With a highly figured stock, the carving has a tendency to be overshadowed by all the wood, so I went with a more plain stock.  Many European rifles have rather plain stocks with fairly elaborate carving.  This was another reason for the plainer wood as I wanted to portray a strong European connection.  Ron mentioned that the carving reminded him of I. Berlin.  A couple of Berlin rifles have strong baroque carving, which is an attribute of many European hunting rifles, and again, that was the connection I had in mind.

The carving behind the cheek was inspired by a casting Ron Scott had taken from an original Germanic rifle.  I played around with the various elements of that design and came up with what's on this rifle.

Thanks again!

Ed, As everyone has stated VERY NICE!!  To not be based on a specific rifle , this piece has a very believable look. I really like it!  Well Done Sir!!   Nate

It's a WENGER and nothing else. It shows the talent and capabilities of a superb, currently active
craftsman that obviously knows how to manage his tools and bring dreams to reality. I normally
do not like carved rifles but I will make an exception for this one.

Oh man Ed, that one is cool. I like that there is nothing "business as usual" about it except for your talent. You're unlikely to see another one beside you at the range. Fascinating. It takes a while to take it all in. I'll be there in four hours....let's shoot it!  👍🏽 Best wishes, Marc

Ed,

Another superb riflegun!  This is getting to be a habit with you.  Knock it off!  You are making me look like a monkey with this stuff!

You are becoming one of the leading builders in this country, second to none.  Quite an achievement!

Ed is that a single set trigger?  How much does it weigh?

Tim..., no, it's a simple pinned trigger.  Haven't weighed it, but I'd guess in the 8lb. Range.  That barrel is pretty hefty, but it balances, and points very well.

I was able to handle this one in Lexington.  Ed is right, it handles and balance well.  The usual trigger guard bow feels good in the hand was well.
