One more for Dixon's

I built this in conjunction with the steel mounted rifle I posted earlier. This one is a "kit", Chambers English Sporting Rifle. It's probably more than just a little fancy for an English Sporting Rifle of this period, but this is going to be a special gift, so the client wanted to embellish it some. The English walnut stock is beautiful, so we thought less carving and wire would be better. The metal parts were given special attention, with a good amount of engraving and chiseling, to hopefully match the wood quality. The engraving is not entirely what you might see, style wise, on an English piece, so it probably approaches more of a contemporary piece. Anyway, it was a lot of fun to build! As always, be happy to answer any questions...
I'll probably be taking a few days off...

Sorry the photos aren't the best, really don't do justice to the stock. I meant to mention, the stock was finished with several coats of hand rubbed teak oil, no stain.

Hi Ed,
That is wonderful! The ALR tent will be well decorated this year. I particularly like the lock engraving with the grotesque. very beautiful!

Whoever gets that as a gift had better have a chair close by because they will have to sit down stunned after seeing that gun. Beautiful work.

Ed, if we still had a king, you'd be appointed the "Royal Gunsmith"
Magnificent along with your previously posted iron mounted rifle! Just not enough words in my modest vocabulary to give ample praise!

GOOD LORD! Are you using illegal immigrants to turn out that volume of work?
You make me tired....
