Bison flat horn

Haven't posted for awhile but I thought I would post my latest. It is Bison and is 1 inch thick, 4 inches at the base and 12 inches around the outside curve. The tip is applied antler and it is pinned with bison horn pins, the base is bone and is pinned with bone. The drawer pull at the bottom is one of my creations of brass. I still need to make a spout plug. Hope you all like it.

That horn is truly elegant. I've tried making flat horns With bison horns. Due to the thickness of the horn, I had to cut off the tip to flaten it.  How did you solve this?

Rolf, I started out by taking a lot of thickness out of the horn and then flattened it.

Tim , I wouldn't mind at all but it may be a little while before I can do one.  Have a bunch of other irons in the fire and they seem to be keep falling out on me.
I'm not entirely sure I should show how I do things it might freak a lot of people out but let me see what and when I can come up with something.

Can only imagine what that black would look like against a natural deer skin jacket! What do you do to get that low gloss sheen? Would also like another pic showing the white triangle butt on your other buffalo horn

J, I use sand paper up to 400grit and then 0000 steel wool to finish. I then apply a real good coat of Johnson paste wax and polish it way more than I want to.
