As to a larger calibre?
Amazing how much timber a .69 will travel through and still hit the mark (or close enough to it) to do the job,
even at 100yards.
It was being driven at a good clip, though by it's 6 dram powder charge.
The second shot only went through a few of the 1" diameter willow trees, hitting on point of aim and dropping the moose.
Thus, I know through experience, not only a WW 466gr. ball, but a pure lead 482gr. ball will work fairly well in 'brushy' areas,
with unseen obstacles between muzzle and critter.
