Rumor mill
« on: October 25, 2017, 05:56:22 PM »
I just had my NOS .54 cal 15/16 straight oct. Getz barrel expertly turned oct. to round by a local gunsmith, and another gunsmith/barrelmaker I was talking to at rendezvous, said Getz Barrels had recently gone out of business! Is this true? I haven't seen any chatter about that on here recently, so I was skeptical.

Hi Tom,
I don't know the status of John's business but he has been going through some medical issues recently.

Normally I wouldn't post about John's business but since he posted the quote below on Facebook  I will post it here. While John hasn't closed the barrel business he is facing  a long recovery so I doubt he will be in the shop any time soon.I'm sure any prayers would be appreciated!!!

Quote
All right, for all of those of you who have been asking what happened to me, here goes nothing. Started feeling poorly about two and a half weeks ago with symptoms of the flu. Chills, aches, headache, vomiting. By the third day I was feeling absolutely terrible, could barely stand, and decided to go to the emergency room at Evangelical Hospital.
Upon arrival I was rushed straight to a bed in the emergency room, and begin drawing blood to test my symptoms. Immediate blood results showed a blood sugar level around 800..due to an infection in my left foot callous, due to a tiny metal chip. That should have put me in a coma the previous night. Thank GOD it did not.
The subsequent trauma triggered a heart attack. Which lead to heart surgery. Meanwhile...the infection threatened my pinkytoe bone..which amputation created the firebreak necessary to cease the infection. Now keeping the infection out of my foot is priorty ONE. Sugar maintainence is my OTHER priority numero uno. Soo...four months healing time on my foot. Transition to a pill in a month for glucose maintenance. In short...I'm messed up. So ends the story.... Thanks to God above for hearing my pleas. ....... all good..

I am real sorry to hear that. My prayers go out to him for a thorough recovery!
I'll pass that on to the one who was spreading the rumor.

Frank House had mentioned setting up a medical expense donations thru his facebook page. John being self employed had no med. insurance. If you know Frank I'd suggest talking to him about it, that's all I know.
