I love it.  What a nice rescue job you did.  Especially that wood replacement at the tang.  From the pictures, you hid it well.

That seemed awful fast, wish I was retired too!

Alright you jokers!  Being left handed just means I'm in my right mind!!  :P

Seriously tho' I typically don't build left handed guns because of the limited lock selection as well as potential difficulty in selling a left handed gun.  I don't mind shooting a right haded gun but I have to confess it is quite nice to have a cheek piece on the side of a rifle where I can actually use it!

Thanks Malt!  After staining with AF and LMF red maple stain, I rubbed it back some with steel wool and grey Scotch Brite.  Next I applied three coats of LMF sealer, two heavy coats and one thin coat.  I rubbed back lightly with grey Scotchbrite between coats just in case there were any dust or imperfections that may cause an issue.  After the second coat of LMF sealer I used Kibler's bone black and Tung oil to accent the carving and a few other spots, applied with an artist's brush and wiped off the high spots with fingers and / or my palm. I applied the third coat of LMF sealer and did another round of accenting with the boneblack and tung oil. 

I let the stock sit overnight and then hand rubbed a coat of Formby's tung oil over the entire stock.  Tung oil is low gloss and I thought I would try using it over the LMF sealer instead of rubbing the LMF back with rottenstone or other abrasive.  The next day I put a coat of paste floor wax over it all.  I really liked the results of the tung oil over the LMF sealer, much easier than rubbing back the shine IMHO.  8)

Norm, Thanks, I was even amazed myself how well hidden the patch turned out.  I almost forgot it was there!  The carving don't look so good this closeup but the patch still fools the eye.

I got lucky the barrel shot straight left and right.  As far as the elevation goes, the last few rifles I built I have used a pair of dividers and estimated how far the top of the rear sight was from the centerline of the bore, and then made the front sight the same height from centerline of bore.  I put the rear sight quite a ways up the barrel on this one so I could see it better, and made it fairly low profile.  The front site was actually recycled from a rifle I built several years ago - after I had filed it down to 1/8" and was still shooting way low I had to make a taller rear site and a new front site to get it to shoot center bull.  I threw the old sight in a parts drawer for "someday" and that day arrived for the front sight last week!

Eyow what a great rescue. I really like that rifle. I'll bet there are some lefties calling you wanting to buy it.
That is quite the lovely finish job. Great, rich color.

I love your carving. I think it looks well planned and crisply executed. 
I was waiting to see the tang area. Bravo! If I didn't know about the repair, I'd have never seen it. What super work.
