Little patch knife
« on: November 18, 2017, 12:49:17 PM »
While forging a blade a few weeks back, I was left with a small scrap of 1084 steel. I started to toss it but figured I would beat it out while the forge was still hot and see what I could make. A little scrap of antler and some pewter and voila...

I had to include this photo of my largest and smallest to date

I love doing little patch knives like the one you have here. I always do my best to leave as little unused scrap as possible.

Thank you all. I am having a lot of fun making knives lately. I have two more to finish the bolsters and I will post pics. They are basically the same as this one except progressively larger. Hard to visualize but you’ll see next week. Thanks for the comments! Will

I always liked small knives, too. Very nice.

To me it takes more skill to do a small one like that. Really nicely done !

Thanks Ron. The heat treat was the trickiest part. Due to the small mass, it cools off very quickly! Have to be fast with the quench.
