Fascinated with RCA II 137

I keep going back to this rifle. Any one have any more specific ideas on where or when it might have been made? Could the crude trigger guard have been a later replacement?

If a later replacement, it sure fits well.  More likely it got kinda mangled in use and straightening it didn’t go so well.

Defiantly a really cool gun David, Very old and very southern. If not for the box and carving it is timeless.

I said I wasn't going to start another rifle till I got some other projects completed,.. but..,.I am thinking about a build based on 137 and trying to decide on lock choice. I've got a nice Bill Large tapered and flared .50 x 42" that I have been trying to decide on what to build around it. Have an L&R early Germanic lock that looks very close to 137's lock . A black walnut stock blank that has been drying for almost 15 years..?  I may have to scratch the itch.

Thats a really neat gun. I've always thought it had a North Carolina look to it , i could be completely wrong though.

David, Sounds like you have already started planning your build , sounds good to me , as I also like #137. If you have the little guy on your shoulder , telling you to do something else, I`ll be the other little guy on the other side going, "build 137, build 137"  ::) ;)     Nate
