I can't shake the urge to build a long barrel fowler. I have been looking around online at different options and can't find what I want. Specifically a 48-50" 20 gauge O-R. I tried to contact the Getz Company but the number was disconnected. I know Mr. Getz passed last year and I didn't know if the company is still in business. None of the only supply houses carry barrels that long. I contact Rice Barrels but he said he doesnt do Octagon to round.

I know they are out there, just don't know where. Will

perhaps Ed Rayle, but I'll bet there is a wait.
I once had one of his in a 48". It was a great shooter.
Also maybe Colerain??

FCI, Charles Burton barrels, will make you an oct/ round smoothbore in 48 in length. I have one of his barrels and it is top notch.

Try Charlie Burton at FCI Barrels (http://fcibarrels.tripod.com/). Don Getz died several years ago and John is dealing with some current medical issues.

Bobby Hoyt will also make a long oct/rd barrel. Surprised that Rice doesn't make an oct/rd since I have one on a fowler that Mike Brooks built and another being inlet in a piece of walnut. My understanding is Rice makes the barrels for Chambers' fowlers. Maybe he doesn't make them that long? Tim

I also would like to build a 50" fowler I just posted about a round tapered 28ga.

Im unsure but "Long Hammock" may still be a source?

Near as I can tell Burton's wait is just a bit longer then Rayl's- Add Joe at the Gunworks to the list of potential sources.

Unless you have a specific reason a larger bore might be more desriable for a long barreled fowler.

I have a Fowler with a 72" OR barrel. Had to make it ourselves. Overall length of the gun is 7'4".

I might be mistaken about Rice. I thought that is what he told me but I may be wrong. It happens more and more these days.

I have a few Rice oct/round barrels (20ga.) but they are all 30"-40", Colrain's Dutch barrel is 46" in .75 caliber and I've used a few of those, a bit heavy but fits the need.

Bobby Hoyt makes nice thin walled oct/round fouler barrels. I have a 48" on. Type g that weighs about 6 lbs.
They shoot very well.

Yeah! and word has it that , the barrel on that gun was only 42inches !!! Gives a whole new meaning to " Aim low boys, they`re ridin` Shetland ponies"

I wouldn't be taking the barrel out of that one to clean it. I believe that gun lives in Northern PA. these days.
