Hi Mike,

I am a fan and "student" of the NC guns, my home state.  It looks like you really got the feel for this southern piedmont rifle. 

Don't worry about the architecture.....it looks like you nailed it.  Not many folks recreate the rifles from that areas, so seeing your work is very welcome. 

I also appreciate that "Christmas Tree" patchbox and the full-length toe plate. 

Put me down as interested in seeing the finished product, as well as more "in progress" photos. 

Glad you are mended and back at it good sir!

Thanks. I'm relieved to hear I got the architecture right. It looked right to me, but when you live with a gun every day sometimes you don't always notice what it really looks like. It would be an interesting school to specialize in like some have become Lehigh specialists. Now all I have to do is brave the cold and go back out in the shop  and finish this thing!

Put the stain on yesterday and draw filed the barrel, looks great! Getting ready to inlay a signature plate in the barrel. But, it seems I'll be butchering hogs today..... ???

Lots of people know about building rifles- not many got the hog butchering skills. Be happier to learn about the Mike Brooks blood sausage recipe and any other hints on turning swine into chow he might have.

Got three hogs skinned gutted and 1/4rd up and hanging in the walk in cooler. Further processing goes mon Monday. Cold day for butchering, only 8*. Numb hands, but nobody got cut up.
 I did get a first coat of finish on the gun. Turned out a nice dark honey color as I wished. :)

Can't wait to see the completed project. Thank You for sharing. This is the last day of Pa flintlock season. Would you recommend starting your first build as a pistol or just jumping right into a rifle?

Thanks Mike. I was thinking maybe since it was smaller it might not be as hard but I guess you still have all the same work to do.

OK all done! Went to put it back together and nothing fit, had to reinlet and scrape almost all  inlets. Even the barrel lugs wouldn't fit. ??? Took 7 hours just to put it back together! Anyway, here's how it turned out. Any questions fire away.
