The annual ALR cabin-fever, winter get-together at Ft. Boonesborough State Park, Ky. will be held on January 27.  We will meet in the blockhouse from 9am to 4pm, with a break for lunch at Hall's on the River.

All ALR members and anyone that's interested in the study, building, shooting, etc. of long rifles, horns, bags, knives, etc. is welcome.  Please bring works in progress, recently completed pieces, antiques for discussion, items for sale or trade.

In past years we've had from 10 to 15 attendees, but we can accommodate more, and we always have a great time, so please come and join us.  We usually try to have some tutorials or demo's lined up, so if anyone has any tips or how-to's they would be willing to pass along, please let me know.

I'd like to get a rough head count, so I can let the Fort know how many tables and chairs we need, so please let me know if you think you will be attending.

Here's a link with info on the Fort http://www.fortboonesboroughlivinghistory.org/

I'll be looking forward to seeing y'all again.

-Ron

Can I talk you into bringing your Hacker Martin rifle too?

I believe I'll be able to make it.
I'll see if Charlie is up for it also.  I haven't spoken to him in a while.

Ron:
Every year it seems that something comes up that keeps me from attending.  Not this year - I'll be there, looking forward to it.

I should be able to go since Jeff volunteered to chauffer (sp) this old man. Nothing to show but I can still see what others have done.

I'm glad to hear from so many old friends and several new friends I haven't met yet, that are planning on attending.  Looks like it's shaping up to be a pretty good get-together.

Please remember to bring some stuff for show and tell, a project you're working on, or one you've finished, antiques for discussion, a tool you've made or demo a technique you use, items for sale or trade, heck, bring anything interesting.

I know there is an early Hacker Martin rifle, an original Joe Long rifle, and a contemporary Christian Springs rifle by Tom Hall and Keith Vance that are coming to visit.

It's always a treat to see what you guys have been up to.

I misread that at first glance and I thought you said Brooks may show up.  Now that would be fun.

Would somebody that has never built a long rifle be welcome? I don't have any projects in progress, but sure would like to build one some day. Will photographs be allowed?

Thanks,

Hi Mark,

Yes, come on and join us.  But be warned, LR building is a highly contagious illness.

Photographs?  Yes, in fact we may make you the official photographer for the day.

Just 5 more days!  Weather should not be an issue for travel, as it has occasionally in the past.  Forecast is high 50's, 30% chance of rain.  Looking forward to seeing you there.
