I finished this up for a good friend, Ken. It's a squirrel rifle, dainty and petite, 32 caliber. The barrel is a Rice, a slim one at that: tapered from 3/4 to 11/16ths. Davis triggers, L&R lock, old antique butplate that I worked into shape, triggergaurd cast from an original (running out of those), poured pewter nosecap and German silver decorations. I had a lot of fun building this.

Forgot to add; the stock is walnut with some burl in the butt, hard as can be, no grain direction to speak of.

Great little rifle!! I really like the use of the old parts to bring them back to life. Real nice for tree rats.

Boy that is a very neat little rifle. Maybe it was camera glare but I didn't see any engraving on the squirrel. How much does it weigh?

Some great work there, Gaeckle!  I really like your inlay designs,  especially the lunar scene on the lock side.

I have no idea how much it weighs, but it's real light. I didn't put any engraving on the squirrel because I couldn't figure out what to put on it. I drew some designs on it and really wasn't happy with the results, so I opted not to engrave.

Thanks Curtis, that burl is non directional and rip roaring hard on the lock side. Originally I was looking to making a patchbox and had begun looking through some reference books to figure out what sort of box would look good. I was afraid that pop-outs would happen and the lack of grain direction would cause poor inletting, so in went a Man in the Moon.

The rifle and the padlocks were fun, no restrictions, just the freedom to be creative. The best part was when I handed it off to Ken.
