g r douglas long rifle in 54 caliber with a 44 inch barrel

Hi....I purchased a full maple striped stock long rifle and the only markings on the gun that I can find are g r Douglas on lower left flat under stock, how could I find out maker and a possible value on firearm, it is really nicely hand crafted with a patch box and inlay, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Knowing the maker is impossible without a signature.  Top makers sign their work; hobbiests do sometimes.  Good used longrifles with straight barrels usually run in the mid hundreds. Condition of bore is paramount.

There was a barrel maker "g r douglas" but have never seen a g r douglas made rifle.

Douglas drilled octagon bar stock, and the GR Douglas trademark stamp was used to mark the side of the bore with the most run out at the breech.  The breech plug should have been installed to locate the stamp on the top or bottom flat to allow easier sight setting.  By doing that you could avoid a lot of windage adjustment.  Just elevation.

94buff, That is a nice looking rifle. How about a little more info? Cal, Length of barrel and over all length? Again, nice rifle.

It has a 54 caliber barrel with a i believe 43 or 44 inch barrel......have to measure overall length
