Composit Rifle
« on: February 01, 2018, 05:54:56 AM »
Haven't post much because I wasn't able to use photobucket  but since there is another way now, here is my last build. Finished this one up late last year. It has a 38" Rice "C" weight .54 barrel and Chamber's early Ketland lock. All the hardware I forged or made from sheet brass. I also made a new frizzen spring for the lock. I made this rifle with the thoughts of a frontier smith using recycled parts and a few new pieces. I really wish I ccould have kept this one and another that I have on my bench right now.

i want to upload my photo

Very nice work. I like the washer arrangement for the tang bolt. Very distinctive.

Brian, glad I got to meet you at Bama`s show, although briefly, danged flu!. I really like this rifle. I like your finish on the wood and metal. If I could forge mounts as nice as yours , I might build more iron mounted guns ;) ::). I`ve noticed that a lot of your rifles that I`ve seen , have very nicely made mounts. Nice Work!!!  Nate

Thanks guys. Nathen forging good mounts just takes practice. It takes two or three attempts for me sometimes to get what I am looking for.

I love that rifle!  Just enough decoration, and everything nicely executed...especially the forged mountings. Great job!

;) ;)...... Fine job as always, Brian... always liked your work ...... Really like the idea of a rifle made-up from "re-cycled" parts.... kinda like the one Wayne has shown right now on the "Antiques" thread .... I believe some of the original, esp., "Southern" may be just that ... !!! ... Really like that new project you are working on, too .....Keep posting progress on that rifle .... That one is really interesting ... !!!..... Regards, C C Fiddler

A Grand rifle , Brian.

You show great taste in knowing when to quit.   Nothing over-done.  A rifle I'd take anywhere.

Congrats!!
