"Baer Killr
« on: February 01, 2018, 05:18:39 PM »
Here is one of my current builds. This is the other rifle I would like to keep for myself. That's how it started out anyway. I've been working on it in my spare time for about a year now. It has a custom 47" Rice barrel in .50 on it. The lock is Chambers late Ketland and the triggers are a set I made. I might make another for myself but it will probably be a little plainer..... maybe.

The Folk Art ingredients are a real draw to this one, not to mention it’s a real beauty of a build.

I've got some other ideas but don't know if they will be used on this one. Don't want it to look too busy.
I really don't like doing pewter nose caps that much. They can be a pain when they are complex but they really look good on the right rifle.

That is quite cool. Is there a particular original it is based on? I'm not as familiar with post-1800 guns as I am the earlier ones.

That's a great rifle, any chance of seeing the trigger guard from the bottom?

Not a copy of any rifle or school. Its what most call a fantasy rifle. I took bits and pieces from southwest Virginia and western North Carolina with a pinch of Tennessee.
Elk, I'll try to get a photo of the trigger guard for you.

I like it a lot, but have to admit the "baer" spelling would bother me every time I picked it up.

Plus, a real bear rifle don't need to self promote...   ;)
