You guys that think this is a little “over the top” will love this..., I’m seriously thinking about fire bluing the barrel, then doing gold leaf in all the stippled areas of the engraving 😳.

Wow! I particularly like the carving and architecture. What's the drop at comb and heel (if you know it)? Hope I get to look at it at thr CLA show before it gets sold!

Great piece!

I love that little splash of wire behind the cheek piece... Or is that just the start? ;D

Thanks again, all....

Ron, thanks for your mentoring and sparking my interest in these types of pieces!

James, off the top of my head, I’m not sure of those dimensions, but believe it’s around 1 1/2” at the comb, around 3” at the heel.

Jeff, I believe that might be it for the wire.  I’ve kind of gone round and round about that, and have thought about doing some more, maybe around the wrist/tang area and/or around the entry thimble.  I’ve hesitated because it’s pretty “busy” already, and am thinking “less might be more”.  I’d be interested in what others would think about that...

I’m not sure if I’ll be attending the CLA show, unfortunately.  It’s been a crazy busy summer, actually year, so I’ll probably be sitting this one out.  Will certainly miss seeing everyone if I don’t make it!

Thanks again!

Ed:  Nice piece of work!  Can't wait to see it finished.  How much butt drop? and length of pull?   Hugh Toenjes

Hi,
Ed's rifle is really spectacular in the hand.  Thanks for bringing it to Dixons.

Ed; You do beautiful work and are truly a artisan. Your Jaeger is extremely nice. I quote you below on the wire work...

"...I’ve hesitated because it’s pretty “busy” already, and am thinking “less might be more”.  I’d be interested in what others would think about that..."

Yes, you have done a lot of decoration: I, for one, vote more wire work in the areas you mentioned. Why not go whole hog...
