Rice Fowler Barrels

Does anyone have a spec sheet for their fowler barrels? I don't see anything on their web site.

This info is for the barrel I just picked up from Jason. I believe it was copied from a 1730s barrel.
Breech 1 1/16"
2 1/2" down .950
6 5/8 down .930 (the oct portion is on 6 5/8" long
muzzle is .720 and wall thickness is.050
 41" long
2 1/2 lbs

I have the 20 gauge and its a beautiful barrel

Does the octagon morph into a round barrel, is their a wedding band or something of that nature?

The lightweight Rice barrel with the jug choke mentioned above has a short 6 5/8 octagon to a wedding band then a 1" round section to another wedding band.

I recently got a 16 bore Rice Fowler barrel. It looks good but it will be a while before I use it.
I appears to have the same dimensions as the one Burnt describes.

I don't know about Rice, but I built a fowler using a Colerain 16 gauge octagon-to-round barrel, I think their Griffin profile, a little over a year ago. It has a wedding band between the octagon and round segments. I went with the 16 gauge because the external dimensions are the same as their 20 gauge, but with less metal, hence lighter. It's a nice barrel, cylinder bored, and I was happy with it. TOW lists the dimensions and weights of the Colerain barrels in their catalog and online. They don't describe any Rice smoothbore barrels, only rifled. You'd need to call Rice.

The Oct part is about 8 3/8" long
Distance between wedding bands is about 4 1/8"
Length of barrel is is 41"

I agree with Mike - on a flinter, the short octagonal section is a bit short. This cap-gun o the mid 1800's is also short, but transitioned into 16 sides which is kinda cool, before the wedding band.
I think it is fitting for a short forend cap-gun, but not a flinter.  This may be more than a subjective choice. Does history show short octagonal sections on flinter barrels?

Original English trade guns with 48" barrels like the Carolina gun or "type G" had 9" oct sections. But generally most other oct/rnd barrels had oct sections several inches longer.

Actually, many earlier period guns (first half 18th century) had the profile of tha Rice barrel. Many of the barrels had the first section (short octagon) part rounding or going to sixteen sides at the far end of the section which in my opinion gives a better balace to the eye as opposed to an abrupt octagon end at the ring. These barrels usually had the farthest ring as the visual balance point area we associate with the octagon to round Spanish pattern produced by most present day barrel makers. The second photo is a pistol barrel but has the same characteristics
