Mt Son just picked up this one,,,# 715.  He wouldn't let me get after those lock panels with a wood rasp though!!!!

Howdie, looks like the one I watched on gunbroker. Glad someone here got it. The one I bought there ,with the Mexican coin on it, is a nice gun,probably built from kit by someone that knew Hawkens.It is every bit as shapely as my Ithaca project.

Awesome rifle, but I agree Longknife ,something has  got to be done about those lock panels to make it look like a real Hawken! :'(

Have a look at these - lock panels not at all like your boy's rifle.  Maybe if he sees these, he'll let you 'fix' his.

Hey Longknife, if you got a big time itch to whittle one of these into shape, watch the gunbroker and snag one ,also gunsinternational sometimes has em there . Do a search on Hawken or Uberti Hawken.
