New (to me) 36 cal
« on: March 07, 2018, 01:53:23 AM »
Picked up a new to me rifle at the trade fair in Xenia last weekend. Made by David Parsley from Ohio, many moons ago.  Nice patina on a cherry stock. Has some love marks and isn't perfect, but neither am I.

Appears to be from the Lehigh school, but please tell me if I'm wrong. Going to a little camp this weekend to shoot with friends, which I'm really looking forward to.

Was able to take it out for the first time last weekend. What an absolute blast. Felt like I shot all day and used barely any powder and lead.

All in all, pleased with it's performance.

Real nice squirrel rifle. I use to have a .36 caliber squirrel rifle but like a dummy I sold it about 20 years ago. I can still kick myself selling it. Now days I have two .32 caliber squirrel rifles.

Have solace and hope that it's brought someone years of pleasure.

Boy these little calibers sure are fun though!

32 caliber is my preferred choice.  Some like the 36 better.  Each to their own when it comes to small calibers.

It was pretty cold when I was shooting, and it was tough fumbling with those small roundballs with numb hands or gloves on. I imagine it'd be tougher if they were even smaller.

But I think it comes down to personal preference in the end.

I've had more experience both shooting and hunting with the .32 caliber.  I currently have a pretty nice .32 flinter and a much enjoyed .36 flinter.  Interpreting the .32's likes and dislikes is still a work in progress; the previous .32 I hunted/shot was a solid performer and it liked ruining the day for any squirrel spotted.  Both it and my .36 are equally accurate; no doubt the current .32 flinter will join that club.
