Glad you fellows like my horn. Tim I am too old to start a horn making career. Taylor, no I didn't boil it in oil. I heated it with a heat gun. It might have been better to boil it, I really don't know. It was far easier to do than I imagined. It was basically round but a bit deformed. Didn't take much heat to straighten it out,push the plug in and let it cool. The wood plug is peaked. The horn and bone are just an overlay about .080 thick. By comparing the photos it seems I did get the peak a bit higher than the original. As most of you know, working from photos leave many unanswered questions. I contacted the museum and ask for measurements.. The curator a very nice fellow had offered to measure anything on the Creamer rifle I might have missed. But I got no response on the horn question.
I hope to see some of you fellows at the Knoxville show. Its a great show. You should come if at all possible. Its about a seven hour one way drive for me, But worth it...Louie
