front sight question

You folks install your front sight before or after rust browning/bluing the barrel?Talking copper/brass base,silver blade type sights.

I do it after bluing/rusting.  Just because it makes it harder to wipe the solution on with the sight installed.

I make the dovetails before applying a final finish to the barrel. I fit the sights but leave them off during the browning process. Doing the dovetails after browning seems a good way to mess up your carefully applied finish.

Cut dovetail and fit the sight, remove, brown or blue then reinstall.

 Note the photo in patche's post. In order to avoid scratching the finish when re installing the sights place a piece of 35mm film on the barrel where the sight extensions go over the barrel. The film is very tough and strong and will protect the finish when installing the sights.  No Charge.
