Critiques needed

Trying to post pictures of horns I've built .
With the expertise of you people , it should be easy to find out if I'm headed down the right road or just butchering horns.

Welcome Pulaski.  There are several first class horn experts on this forum.  I'm definately NOT one of them, but if you post some pictures I'm sure somebody who does know what they are talking about will be willing to provide you with some advice.

Steve, First it is apparent you definitely have an artistic approach to horn making and have a good eye is selecting the horn shape, then the color.  My favorites thus far (without future closeups) would be the first two horns from the left as I tend to prefer the classic F&I and 'golden age' typicals often seen from our history.  I, for one, would love to see closeups of the engravings/scratchings you've done.  Can't see anything in particular to offer much critque.  It's hard to believe you're a beginner?
What did you use for the base plug in the middle horn. 
Keep up the great work and welcome to the horners world. ;D

Never got to hold an original , just pictures . Still have the Aug. 2004 muzzleloader &muzzle blast issues with the F&I war horns .
Purchased just about every book on the subject I could find .

Terrible work, just terrible!  You should immediately send ALL your completed horns to me for closer inspection ;)     But your work does show promise, so keep at it...  and keep sending me the additional horns.  I'll let you know when you're ready.  I was hoping you were in Pulaski County, Kentucky or maybe Tennessee.  I was going to offer to come and pick the horns up to get their bad influence away from you asap....  dang, Wisconsin is too fer, so just drop 'em in the mail!

All kidding aside, those are some mighty handsome horns!  And, by the way, welcome to ALR!  With work like that, you're going to fit in here just fine.

I have one comment...  and mind, it's not a criti-q, as color is a preference of the builder.  Have you experimented with lightly coloring the white areas?  Like boiling in onions skins or very dilute yellow Rit dye?  I like the yellowed, aged look, but again...  personal preference.  Yep, mighty handsome.  I'll keep them just like you send them, even if the bodies are white!

Pulaski, I think you have done a beautiful job. I have done many horns with a faceted spout and know how difficult that is, I can not see the thing that irritates me most in them, that is a bulgy look that does not follow the natural curve of the horn. I think you must know what I mean. I would also recommend experimenting with giving the body a more parchment look, boiling in tea is one way. Keep up the good work, hope to see more!

You never handled an original horn??  I find myself very lucky to be using an original scrimed horn with my shooting bag.  Well intentioned folks say I shouldn't.  My answer to them is my ownership and use of that ol horn is surely only temporary!

The holly wood has a minwax finish (several coats) rubbed down to keep it dull . I heat it to saturate it into the wood .
I've made a set of pistol grips from it with the same finish and polished the beans out of it . If you looked at them you would guess ivory . If you pick them up you would notice they are too light in weight to be ivory .
It's a great wood to work with , hard but light in weight .
If you need a piece let me know .

The two larger horns on the right have a slight parchment finish to the body (it doesn't show well , I'm terrible with a camera)
I figure I can allways darken it for the customer if that's what the want .

Would really like to , I think there are suttle nuances (sp) that a camera or discription cannot impart .

The horn on the left looks almost exactly like I want my horn to be, except for much different scrimshaw work, and right side carry. I really like the pure white coloration.
