Hawken tutorial
« on: April 21, 2018, 06:42:03 AM »
I used to have the link for a Hawken tutorial by Mr. D. Taylor Sapergia. I think it was for both a caplock and a flintlock. I cannot seem to find it.

Would anyone be able to point me there?

Thanks for any help.

I haven't gone through all of it, but they're showing up.

It was such an excellent tutorial, and I really need that help. Now that I have things in good enough order to proceed, I'm dieing to shoot that Hawken.

Thank you most kindly for any and all help.

As far as I can tell, they are all there, achieved by using the Firefox addon.

Bonus! 2 clicks and it's done.

Thanks most kindly again.

I’ve been reading through just clicking each photo and seeing it on photobuckets site, closing it, scrolling to the next one and repeat. Definitely worth it for the wealth of knowledge in that post!

I was able to replace all 172 of the images from the original thread, so the non-tutorial is now complete again.  There are a couple of pictures posted by Dan Phariss that remain locked up at Photobucket prison.  Dan, if you see this, perhaps you can resurrect those pics.

Thank you for fixing the Pictures.  Could the moderators Place this non-tutorial in the tutorial section? It would be a shame if it were lost.

Best regards
Rolf

Taylor- this was an amazing journey in building. Thanks - just read it through again - REALLY amazing thanks. This is why you get the big bucks for your guns! (although still a steal)
Thank you, brother.

Taylor, you do have a very effective method of writing. The imagery is pretty awesome as well. Glad I save those postings back when they were new.

Thanks Clark.  I have a bit of a 'teacher' history:  trained to be a teacher after high school, taught high school for ten years later in my adult life (fine arts, drafting, woodwork and metal work)  I appreciate the compliment.

I just found this forum and this is my first post here. I read the entire Hawken build thread and wow what a read it was. It almost makes me want to try one myself. Or at least build another kit. I am just getting back into BP again after not shooting a BP rifle for at least a couple of years now. Anyway what a fantastic job you did on those rifles.

I have four of the generic "Hawken" rifles that of course are not all that authentic and they sure don't weigh 10+ pounds thank goodness. But I really like shooting them none the less. I have killed one deer and one cow elk with my BP rifles and it sure was a satisfying way to hunt.

Was there any other American made muzzle loader that used the long trigger bar other
than Hawken? Tom Dawson had an original full stock Hawken that had the long bar but
it was obvious the actual triggers and springs were from another smaller assembly.
Maybe someone here can shed a bit of light here.

Hi,
Did some of the Leman rifles not have the long double trigger bars?
