A little hawk I just finished

This is my first hawk I’ve forged. Its 1080 steel with a Walnut handle. I’ve only forged knives and the occasional chisel up till now. I have to say I’m pleased with this one. I usually completely polish everything but I intend to keep this one to use...and I got tired of polishing!

And as always, I form a blood bond with all of my cutlery at some point during the finishing process...what can I say, big hands and naturally clumsy...this one is no exception. (And it’s SHARP!)

I like it a lot. You called it little, but there’s really nothing in the picture for size reference...how little is it?  I’d like to make something similar for a bag axe. Nice job!

I forged it out of 3/4" square bar. It's about 6" in length and the cutting edge is about 1 3/4".

I had to resurrect this thread after modifying my hawk. The poll seemed too long to me so I shortened it and viola...I think this works better. I’ve carried it in the woods a few times now and it handles well.
