Dixon's
« on: May 18, 2018, 12:01:47 PM »
I'm thinking of heading to Dixon's for the first time this year, but I can't seem to find any information on the fair. There website doesn't seem to be updated either. Any suggestions?

Brian, The Gunmakers Fair is always the last full weekend in July. This year is July 27-29. I normally leave home early Saturday morning and start home after the rewards are announced Sunday afternoon. I'll see if I can find any additional information to pass on to you. Ray

Hi,
Dixon's is always the last full weekend in July.  This year it is July 27, 28, and 29.  ALR will have a larger presence at the fair this year at a site were we can accommodate more people and more hands on demonstrations.  It should be a great time as usual.

Seems like all the good black powder stuff happens back east. I'd love to attend something like Dixon's. Maybe some day.

Well - gosh - if memory serves me didn't the Penn Dutch settle in the east first then moved to the then "frontier" so it would only stand to reason that a lot of the Penn long rifle activities be focused around the east. I would think the mid west and west is where you would find more "Plains Rifle" stuff but I could be wrong - not the first time ;D :-\?  I use to live about 1-1/4 hour away from Dixon's - went there when he was in the chicken coops.

I’m 15 minutes from Dixon’s.

That’s a blessing and a curse. Depends on if you talk to me or my wife. ;)

So, does anyone have a list of seminars and the schedule? Who will be speaking, things like that?

We usually stay out towards Allentown, about 20 minutes from Dixons, inexpensive rooms, a bar and a pool can't think of what else I'd need

Search in the Fogelsville PA area.

There’s also a hotel in Hamburg right near Cabela’s.

I was merely lamenting the fact that I live so far away, not questioning why it is so :)

Rick;

There is a smaller similar even up in the Pacific Northwest somewhere, that is closer to you. I’m not exactly sure of the where’s, and when’s, but I sure if you poke around a bit someone will know.

I know there was the West Coast Horn Fair up in WA, but I think it is now defunct. I'll look around and see what I can find out.

I wonder what it would take to get something started here on the West coast?  Would there be enough interest and skilled participants to make it viable?

Here is a link to their website, I'm sure just as soon as the schedule is about finalized you will see it posted.

All the elk in the world ain't no good when you fellers back east are hoarding all the guns we need to shoot 'em with  ;D
