What is "Pocket Drill"? I know it is a patch material, but I have never heard of it.

It's the material that your blue jean pockets are made from.

Pocket drill is usually relatively thin, with maybe a maximum thickness of around fifteen thousandths. But, it is sold as cotton drill in a variety of thicknesses. It is woven on the diagonal like denim, and is tightly woven for strength. Often police, and park ranger uniforms are made of it. Now you must be careful to get 100% cotton, since now it is often a blend.

Pocket Drill is a tightly woven fabric intended for high wear places such as pocket fabric.  It uses three threads for the weaving to tighten the fabric.  The cotton drill that I get from JoAnn's Fabrics measures in at 0.017" after washing out the sizing.  Its the patching material I use for my shooting.  You can find it in the utility cloth section or you may have to ask for utility cloth.  Make sure it is 100% cotton.

The only "dumb" question is the one that wasn't asked.
"Dumb" as defined by silence.
THIS forum is notorious for having people that can answer
any question about black powder guns (muzzle loaders)
than CAN be asked. No ridicule or insults either so ask
whatever you think you want to know.
